Discipline is not an option: Kangana Ranaut defends calling CJP protesters ‘gutter’
Kangana Ranaut has defended her ‘generation gutter’ comment about sections of the CJP protesters in a new Instagram video. He said that discipline and public conduct should remain within social and constitutional limits.
Actress and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut has defended her controversial remarks calling sections of Gen Z protesters the “gutter of a generation”, saying “discipline is not an option”.
In an Instagram video posted on Guru Purnima, Ranaut said she was speaking out against what she described as “obscene behaviour” during the CJP-led protests over the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, and stressed that such conduct should not be normalised.

Sharing the post on Instagram, Kangana wrote, “Taking inspiration from our PM ji and posting a selfie video. Do tell me your thoughts about my thoughts, along with best wishes for Guru Purnima.”
Addressing reporters, Ranaut said that she had objected to the behavior displayed by the protesters in public places, especially in front of children, women and the elderly, which according to her was inappropriate. He argued that society should not accept conduct that, in his view, exposes youth to sexually explicit language or behavior.
The actor accused a section of the media of only focusing on the controversy surrounding his comments, while ignoring his appreciation for students and young achievers. He said he praised Indian startups and congratulated the NEET aspirants, adding that many of the youth around him, including his own team and family members, were hard-working and responsible.
In the video, Ranaut also responded to criticism from some commentators who questioned why women should bear the burden of maintaining dignity and discipline. Rejecting that argument, he said that discipline and respect for social boundaries are not optional but necessary for living in society.

He further argued that individual freedom should not infringe upon the rights and sentiments of others. According to Ranaut, public behavior should remain within constitutional and social limits, adding that people should be conscious of the sentiments of others, be it towards family members, religious figures or political leaders.
The actress also criticized what she called “feminazis”, alleging that they were encouraging young people to adopt behavior she described as regressive, rather than promoting personal growth and responsibility. Referring to Guru Purnima, she urged people to follow the teachings of their gurus and strive for self-improvement instead of what she called “animalistic tendencies”. He concluded the video by wishing his followers a happy Guru Purnima.
Ranaut’s latest comment comes amid an ongoing online war of words with Cockroach Janata Party spokesperson Saurav Das. Earlier this week, Das criticized the Queen actor, claiming that even his own party members did not take him seriously. Ranaut responded by questioning his credentials as a student, calling him “useless and unemployable” in a series of Instagram Stories while defending his achievements before entering politics.
The public debate came after weeks of debate between Ranaut and CJP leaders over the nationwide agitation over irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 exam. While the protests have ended, disagreements continue on social media between the actor-politician and the organization.
