Vikrant Massey starrer crime thriller Sector 36 was released on Netflix on September 13, 2024. It has received rave reviews from critics. Vishal Bhardwaj recently penned an emotional note for the film and expressed his happiness for director Aditya Nimbalkar. Bhardwaj also recalled how Aditya was supposed to be launched with his own version of IC 814 but it was shelved.
Recently, Vishal Bhardwaj shared a special post on Instagram for the film Sector 36 and its director Aditya Nimbalkar. Sharing his feelings, the filmmaker said, “My heart fills with joy and happiness when I see praise for my colleague Aditya Nimbalkar.”
Recalling their days together, Bhardwaj said, “He joined me during Kaminey and was my longest serving associate till Pataakha.”
He further revealed how Aditya was supposed to be launched with his projects but they did not materialise. “I used to feel very sad because his launch kept getting postponed for various reasons. First, he was supposed to co-direct with me my first series, Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children for Netflix. Then my version of 1C 814 for Amazon. Unfortunately, both projects were shelved,” Bhardwaj said.
He signed off by adding, “Now, his first film is out and is getting appreciation. Best wishes and all. This is just the beginning. @nimbalkaraditya.”

In the comments section, Aditya Nimbalkar expressed his gratitude, writing, “Sir, thank you for everything. See you soon.” While many fans congratulated Aditya for his film, one person requested Bhardwaj to reboot Midnight’s Children. The comment read, “When it was announced that you were going to adapt ‘Midnight’s Children’ for a Netflix series, I was so excited!!! I wish you got a chance to reboot that project, Sir!!!”
While Vishal Bharadwaj’s version of IC 814 was shelved, a limited series based on the hijacking was released on Netflix on August 29, 2024. The cast of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack includes Vijay Varma, Pankaj Kapur, Dia Mirza, Naseeruddin Shah, Kumud Mishra, Amrita Puri, Pooja Gor and others. The series is directed by Anubhav Sinha.
Meanwhile, the film Sector 36 is also inspired by true events. It stars Vikrant Massey, Deepak Dobriyal and Akash Khurana in the lead roles.
