In part one of her memoir, Cher revealed that she was once followed by private detectives hired by her ex-husband, the late Sonny Bono. In her new autobiography, Cher: The Memoir, Part One, the singer and actress writes about her complicated relationship with Bono, who died in 1998.

During a period of turmoil in their relationship while working on The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour in the 1970s, Cher, 78, revealed that she became attracted to a guitarist named Bill. In desperation she tells Bono that she wants to sleep with him.

Cher details in her book that ever since she and Bono first moved in together, she was convinced he was going to leave her, which she admitted years later.

Despite performing a show with Bono one evening, Cher says she left him, even though she was fully aware that it would not be easy to get her away from him. Upon Cher’s departure, Bono reportedly told her that she would be despised throughout America for breaking up their union. Taking no notice of Bono’s words, Cher recalled in her book that she hid in her friend Paulette and Ridgway’s room, where Bill was also present, and begged him to go to the airport with her.

Regarding the next order of business, Cher says she can’t remember exactly what happened or in what order, but eventually she learns that Bono had slept with Bill’s girlfriend the previous night out of jealousy and revenge. . Cher recalls that after learning the information she asked Bill to come with her to San Francisco.

Cher and Bill arrived in San Francisco and drove in separate cars to the hotel where they had booked two rooms. He later learns that Bono had hired private detectives to follow him around the city.

Despite booking separate rooms for herself and Bill at the hotel, Cher wrote in her autobiography that she spent the night with Bill, causing her to realize that she would never be intimate with Bono again.

The next morning, Bono’s spies found the pair, and Cher returned with him to Los Angeles for her scheduled show. However, the Sahara Hotel, where she and Bono were scheduled to perform, issued a press release saying that the show had been canceled due to their fatigue.

Cher and Bono divorced in 1975 after a few public appearances.
