At the end of trade yesterday, Dhurandhar: The Revenge (Hindi) was at Rs. 784.50 crore net approx, only Rs. 5 crores less than its predecessor Dhurandhar. By the time you’re reading this, the Ranveer Singh starrer has closed that gap, and become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time in India. This is the second time that a Ranveer Singh film has become a record grossing film.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge is now set to cross Rs. 800 crore net mark today, and ultimately Rs. Is moving towards reaching. 1000 crores earned before the show ends in the theatre.

Over the years, the record has changed repeatedly. One reason for this was that the record was being made by a very narrow margin and the next big film was surpassing it. Pushpa 2 (Hindi) took the record with a big leap and it looked like it might hold on for some time. However, Dhurandhar soon emerged as a stealth horse surpassing that record, and now its sequel has raised the bar even higher, cashing in on the immense goodwill of the original film along with a substantial increase in ticket prices. One can imagine that this record may stand for some time as it is surpassing the previous record by a wide margin, but as it turns out, it is already set to face a tough challenge later this year from Ramayan: Part One, a film that has the potential to redefine the Hindi cinema box office.
Comment: :
- In the above list, movies like Dhoom 2, Pathan, Gadar 2, Jawan and Stree 2 were not record grossers but surpassed the previous record grossers in terms of NETT due to low taxation.
- There is no complete clarity on the NETT numbers before which we are yours. Even Hum Aapke Hain Koun and Gadar are rounded off figures.
