Dhurandhar The Revenge Box Office: Ranveer Singh’s film crosses 1 lakh tickets in national series on first day

Wilder: The Revenge heads up for the weekend today and, like the previews, they’re off to a fast start, if anything, even better. More than 4.50 lakh tickets had been sold till this morning for the preview of the film, which has been on sale for a week. Despite this, the film has managed to sell over one lakh tickets in less than ten hours on the opening day and has now even crossed the mark of two national chains (PVRINOX and Cinepolis).

Only two other Bollywood films (Pathan and Jawan) have sold more than 1 lakh tickets in the national chains in the first 24 hours of their sales, and now Dhurandhar: The Revenge is at the third position. Probably its 24 hours will end at around Rs 1.25 lakh. This will surpass Pathan, although it may be less than 1.55 lakh jawans, but then one has to remember that Dhurandhar: The Revenge has already sold over 2.75 lakh tickets for preview in these series, having been on sale for seven days.

If it had been the first day of sales without previews, the film would almost certainly have comfortably crossed 2 lakhs and possibly gone to 3 lakhs or even beyond.

There is no doubt that the pre-sales of the film are going to be great. It is all set to set new records for Bollywood pre-sales. The only question is how far it can extend those numbers and what kind of records it can set. A key advance metric that revolves around the industry is the national chain advance. The record for first day growth in these series for a Bollywood film is held by ‘Pathan’ (Hindi), which sold 545,000 tickets on its opening day. The overall record is held by Avengers: Endgame, which bombed with sales of over a million.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge would have broken the record of Pathan (Hindi) and could have even rivaled Avengers: Endgame. However, with the preview expected to consume over 5 lakh tickets, this may be difficult to do now. Of course, combined with the previews, it can still do this.
