Dhurandhar collected Rs. Earning around Rs 50 lakh on its eighth Tuesday. With this the film has earned Rs 10 crore. Earned ₹ 4.50 crore in the first five days of its eighth week, breaking Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’s 25-year-old eighth week record for Hindi films. It is noteworthy that the film has made the record of highest grossing in a week, when Sunny Deol’s another film Border 2 has become the highest grossing film.
Although Gadar will set records in actual collections i.e. gross, the fact that this old record has also fallen in NETT, which is the reporting standard of the Hindi film industry, is impressive. Dhurandhar now holds all the weekly records for Hindi films till the eighth week, except the first week, which is held by Jawan (Pushpa 2, including dubbed films). Expecting a record ninth week is probably a stretch, not just because it would be a difficult goal that would require a very strong hold, but also because of the possibility of a digital release next week. Although there has been no official announcement yet, an eight-week theatrical window is the industry norm, so it is highly anticipated. That said, this movie did a lot of things that were pretty big; Maybe it can do it again.
The total box office collection of the Ranveer Singh starrer is Rs. About Rs 784 crore nett. This is approximately Rs. 785 crores this weekend. Digital release will mean a drop in business, so it is likely to close somewhere between Rs. 785-790 crores, just under Rs. Benchmark of Rs 800 crore. Earlier this film had become the first Bollywood film to earn Rs 20 crore. Rs 700 crore in India.
In terms of viewership, Dhurandhar has crossed 3.50 crore admissions, becoming the first Bollywood film to achieve this feat since Dangal (Jawaan had done so in all versions). At one time it seemed that it was possible to defeat Dangal, but it did not happen. Having said that, it’s worth noting that the box office is down from the better days of the 2010s. Although the decline seems less for big films because their films have longer runs due to less competition these days, but it does happen. Additionally, there are places where storage is not happening like before. In that context, the viewership, though less than Dangal, is probably at the same level, maybe even better.
