Indian filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has taken note of the growing hype around Dhurandhar 2The upcoming sequel was called “the biggest multi-starrer ever” in Indian cinema. His comments come as anticipation grows for the Aditya Dhar directorial, which will release in theaters on March 19.

He further added, “In the first part, the characters could have been small or big, but now they have all become huge superstars and hence #Dhurandhar2 will be the biggest multistarrer ever.”

Varma has long praised the film’s scale and approach to storytelling. Having previously described Dhurandhar as “a quantum leap in Indian cinema”, he said that the film treats cinema as “confrontation and not consumption, because it doesn’t just want to entertain you for three and a half hours, its real intention is to stay with you long after the film is over – maybe forever.”

The sequel follows the success of the first installment, which earned critical acclaim and a strong audience response for its blend of realism, covert operations, and dramatic tension. In Dhurandhar 2The story focuses on Hamza, played by Ranveer Singh, as it goes back to his roots in Lyari and follows his path in the shadow of a covert anti-terrorism mission.

Billed as a major group project, the sequel will bring together Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Rakesh Bedi.
