The Delhi Files will complete Agnihotri’s The Files Trilogy, which also includes the Tashkent Files and the Kashmir Files. Earlier, in an exclusive interview with India Today Digital, the filmmaker shared what the film will be about and Why didn’t they name it Bengal files?
“I can call it Bengal Files because the film is about Direct Action Day in Bengal and how the politics of Bengal has affected India,” Vivek Agnihotri told India Today Digital during an exclusive interview. He said, “The reason we called it the Delhi files is because the destiny of India is written in Delhi and not in Bengal. Bengal has to suffer because of what happened in Delhi in the 1940s. But Yes, the film is mostly about what happened in Nokhli and Bengal.
Speaking further about why he chose this subject for his next film, Agnihotri said, “A lot of the great things about India have their origins in Bengal. The Bharat Mata that we imagine is Banga Mata. The whole movement of nationalism, then you name a region, and you realize that Bengal’s contribution is being destroyed.”
Delhi Files: Bengal Chapter will be released in two parts. The first part will release on Independence Day 2025.
