Actor Deepika Padukone recalled her fight with depression in a special episode on Pariksha. During the show, the actor discussed how mental health stigma was in Indian society.

Actor Deepika Padukone, who made the champion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to mental health awareness through his initiative Pariksha Pay CharchaTalked about his fight with depression. Padukone, who has been a lawyer for mental health awareness through his Live Love Laugh Foundation, launched a special episode on 12 February and recalled his mental illness phase and how he finished it.

Deepika credited her mother Ujjala Padukone to understand the signs and to help her during the time that society considered mental health a stigma.

“For the longest time, I did not share it with anyone because I lived alone in Mumbai. When my mother came to see me in Mumbai and the day she was leaving for Bangalore, I suddenly broke. My family asked me all kinds of questions about their work, but what I could say was, “I don’t know.” I just feel helpless and disappointing.
