The UK comedian and actor Russell brand has been accused of several federal crimes. BBC News reported that according to the Metropolitan police, the brand has been accused of a count of oral rape and a count of indecent attacks.
Bal revealed that the allegations were concerned between 1999 and 2005. In an incident, a woman was allegedly raped in the Bornemouth region. The actor-comedian has also been accused of indecency with another woman in the Westminster region of London in 2001.
Another plaintiff alleged that the brand raped and sexually assaulted him in 2004. The fourth incident includes a separate woman, who was allegedly abused and sexually assaulted in the Westminster region between 2004 and 2005.
Since the allegations emerged in September 2023, the brand has faced several interrogation from the police. An investigation by Channel 4, The Times and The Sunday Times resulted in a wave of allegations, including several cases of rape, attack and emotional misconduct between 2006 and 2013.
The artist did not blame for all the above crimes earlier. He denied all claims in a statement, called him “very, very sad”. On Friday, April 4, Jaswant Narwal of Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized the metropolitan police to charge the actor with several crimes.
He said, “We carefully reviewed the evidence after police investigation in the allegations made after the broadcast of Channel 4 documentary,” he said. As a result, he decided that the actor should be accused with crimes.
The CPS reminded everyone that criminal action is active, and the accused has the right to a fair testing. The statement said, “It is extremely important not to share any reporting, commentary, or online information, which can bias these proceedings in any way.”
