Coldplay’s Chris Martin surprised fans by performing Vande Mataram during his show in Ahmedabad on January 26. The live streamed performance by Disney+ Hotstar was shared on social media, showing the singer performing the patriotic track and the crowd enjoying it.

The video shows the singer singing beautifully The crowd shouted enthusiastically with the slogan of Vande Mataram.

During the show, Chris also wished everyone a happy Republic Day and said, “Hello everyone, I am looking at all of you and you are looking very beautiful. I’ll see you up there on the top stand. Thank you for being here. We welcome you all. Waving the Indian flag on Republic Day, it is beautiful. Thank you all so much for making the effort to come to this show. I know it is difficult to come here with the traffic, hotel and ticket queues and all the difficulties you have to go through. Thank you for trying to give us this wonderful day. Thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful country and thank you for giving us the opportunity to play for India.”

Additionally, singer Jasleen Royal, who joined the British band, took the spirit of patriotism a notch higher by singing the national anthem with the crowd.

Meanwhile, Coldplay performed in India as a part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour. The band held three concerts in Mumbai on 18, 19 and 21 January and two concerts in Ahmedabad on 25 January and 26 January. They will go to Hong Kong for their next show in April.
