ChatGPT is currently one of the most popular AI chatbots worldwide with over 600 million users, and it is definitely helping OpenAI increase its revenue. But if you are wondering who are the users who love it the most, they are the ones with more money. According to a study by business intelligence firm Morning Consult, high-income individuals, those who earn more than $100,000 (about Rs 85 lakh) annually, are increasingly relying on AI tools. And their favorite is ChatGPT, followed by Gemini and Microsoft Copilot for both work and everyday productivity.

The report, which is part of Morning Consult’s Fastest Growing Brands 2025 study, shows that affluent professionals are not only aware of AI assistants, but they are also more interested in integrating them more deeply into their personal and business lives. The research highlights that high-income consumers are increasingly embracing the potential of AI. While ChatGPT remains one of the most widely used AI chatbots, when it comes to brand development, Gemini has emerged as one of the fastest growing names in this segment. Its brand awareness increased from 62 percent at the beginning of the year to 78 percent by the end of the third quarter.

According to the report, ChatGPIT outperforms its rivals in both awareness and favorability. The study notes that OpenAI’s chatbot enjoys “much higher awareness than its competitors”, giving it a strong advantage in terms of attracting repeat and long-term users. Beyond name recognition, ChatGPT also leads in what the report calls “total consideration share” – essentially, how many consumers are likely to use or recommend the tool. The chatbot is almost 10 percentage points ahead of its nearest rival here, cementing its place as the preferred AI assistant for high-income earners.

But why exactly are wealthy users turning to ChatGPT more quickly than others? According to the report, it depends on the demands of their jobs. Many of these individuals hold managerial or executive roles that involve heavy administrative work, strategic planning, multitasking, and constant decision making. AI chatbots slide neatly into this workflow by automating tasks, drafting documents, analyzing information, and generally speeding up day-to-day processes. As AI becomes more capable, high-income professionals appear willing to rely on it for efficiency and time savings.

Specifically, Morning Consult’s research is based on data from more than 2,500 brands and surveys conducted among American adults across multiple income and age groups. In the high-income bracket, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and WhatsApp recorded some of the biggest jumps in consumer consideration between the first and third quarters of 2025 – making it clear that AI adoption is being led by the top of the income ladder.
