Photography enthusiasts have been waiting for these for a long time and now Canon has launched them. The company on Wednesday launched two new mirrorless cameras that are part of its top-end offering. One of these is the EOS R1, which has become Canon’s top-end flagship camera. It will be sold in India at a price of Rs 6,30,995, making it one of the most expensive cameras launched by Canon so far. The second camera is the EOS R5 Mark II.

The Canon EOS R5 Mark II is an upgraded version of the R5 that was launched a few years ago. This camera is aimed at prosumers, which means if you are a serious hobbyist you will probably want to buy it. Or if you are a professional photographer, the R5 Mark II will work for you. The EOS R5 price in India starts at Rs 405,995.

Canon says the EOS R1 is the company’s first flagship EOS R system camera designed with action genre photographers in mind. This means Canon is targeting wildlife shooters and sports photographers or those who shoot adventure activities like skiing or surfing with this camera. To give its users speed and the right feature set, the R1 features a 24.2 megapixel back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor. Canon says it also has a new Accelerated Capture System, which includes the all-new DIGIC Accelerator and DIGIC X image processor, which can process large amounts of data at unprecedented speeds.

The EOS R5 Mark II also comes with a new sensor. Although it is still a 45-megapixel sensor like its predecessor, the new one is using stacked technology. Canon says it additionally includes enhancements such as Eye Control AF and Cinema EOS features. Canon says this makes the EOS R5 Mark II a true all-rounder camera for photo and movie professionals.

Commenting on the launch, Tiger Ishii, a senior executive at Canon, said, “The launch of the EOS R1 and EOS R5 Mark II underlines our unwavering commitment to bring leading-edge technology to empower users. These new cameras are more than just products, they are a gateway for Indian filmmakers and photography professionals to redefine storytelling through unmatched visual excellence.”
