Imagine the panchayat without Jitendra Kumar, a show was focused around the village life and the panchayat office. Is it difficult, right? But here is an interesting twist: Jitendra Kumar was not initially on the board with the idea. In fact, he thought that the panchayat would be similar to the US -based show and it was not certain that it was the right fit for him. He knew a little, his role would become one of the most reputed characters in the OTT space.
As mentioned by PTI, Jitendra Kumar, who played the lead role of Abhishek Tripathi in the panchayat, revealed that he was not initially not intended to be part of the series.
He shared that he never expected to be cast on the show, as the original concept was concentrated around a panchayat office, similar to the US series the office, focusing on some internal characters.
However, after fully research and recurrence of a place, the creators realized that the story could not be limited to the office only and has decided to expand it into a broad world.
Jitendra Kumar mentioned that his participation in the panchayat began when the team needed the Panchayat Secretary. He explained that it was at the point that he was offered to the role of Abhishek, Panchayat Secretary, which marks the beginning of his journey with the show.
While reflecting his early days on the set, Jitendra admitted that he was quite nervous, if his performance was coming according to the intention.
Jitendra Kumar felt uncertainty about whether the show’s subtler comic echoes more effectively as a more extreme chutkule. He accepted and struggled to find the right balance, as it was a character he had done earlier. However, after watching the crowd at the TVF, they assured him that he was on the right path.
He shared that he encouraged him to continue after the guidance of the show’s author Chandan Kumar, and assured him that things were going well.
This support helped reduce their concerns, and they began to enjoy the process more. Jitendra also thanked for being a talented co-actor, including Raghubir Yadav, Neena Gupta, Sunita Rajwar, Chandan and Faisal Malik, who played an important role in his development during the journey. The new season of the panchayat will be premiered on July 2, 2025.
