At a rally for Kamala Harris in Georgia, Bruce Springsteen gave a resounding endorsement, saying he supported her chances of winning the presidential election in 2024. The singer described Donald Trump as a dictator who wants absolute power over democracy.
Before Harris took the stage, the renowned singer-songwriter sang his famous songs The Promised Land and Land of Hope and Dreams. Springsteen then explained why he chose to endorse Harris and Tim Walz and not Trump.
According to TMZ, he said, “Donald Trump is running to become an American dictator. He doesn’t understand this country, its history or what it means to be deeply American.”
Springsteen then introduced himself and announced that he supports Walz and Harris for President and Vice President of the United States, stating that Harris supports legislation, orderly change of government, and women’s rights. “(Harris) wants to create a middle-class economy that will serve all of our citizens,” he said.
He further assured that his decision reflects his appreciation of leaders who adhere to the democratic traditions of the United States and are actively committed to its unity and democracy.
He offered a comparison between the Harris-Walz campaign and the Trump campaign. He explained that the reason for Harris’s candidacy is that she can become the 47th President, whereas in Trump’s case, he is only to gain absolute authority in a dictatorial style after the presidency where democracy will cease to exist.
Springsteen ultimately urged, “I’m casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I urge all of you who believe in the American way, join me.” According to him, Trump is detached from America’s values, its past as well as the true meaning of being an American.
In addition to Bruce Springsteen, Kamala Harris has received major endorsements from celebrities like Eminem, Beyoncé, Julia Roberts, Taylor Swift, and countless other high-profile stars, while Trump recently received the endorsement of Mel Gibson. Most recently, Barack Obama and Eminem appeared at a Detroit rally for Vice President Kamala Harris on October 22. Queen B is also expected to attend a rally for Harris in Houston.
