Boong Trailer: Young Boy’s Journey to Hope Amidst Struggle Anchors BAFTA Winner
Manipuri language film Boong, written and directed by Lakshmipriya Devi, is set for theatrical release on March 6, 2026 after its historic BAFTA award win. The film is based on a young boy’s heartfelt adventure to reunite his family.

trailer of boongThe first Indian film to win a BAFTA in the Best Children and Family Film category was unveiled on Wednesday. The Manipuri language film written and directed by Lakshmipriya Devi is backed by Excel Entertainment, Chalkboard Entertainment and Suitable Pictures.
Following its historic recognition at the 79th British Academy Film Awards, the film is set to return to theaters on March 6, 2026.

The film focuses on Boong, a schoolboy from a village in Manipur, played by Gugun Kipgen. The story is based on his journey to find his father, who has been away from home for a long time and is believed to be working near the Manipur-Myanmar border.
Hoping to surprise his mother, Boong decides to bring his father back home. Along with his two friends, he travels to Moreh, a town close to the Myanmar border, where they face various challenges along the way.
Boong’s best friend Raju is played by Angom Sanamtham from Rajasthan. Set against the backdrop of socio-political tensions in Northeast India, the narrative explores themes of resilience, hope and the enduring strength of family ties.
