Bold look designer Preetisheel shares BTS of Akshay Khanna’s intense avatar
Makeup and character artist Preetisheel Singh shared the intricate process behind creating Akshay Khanna’s intense look as Rahman the dacoit in Dhurandhar, sharing unseen pictures and detailed notes on Instagram. He also highlighted how each character in the collective film was crafted with unique textures, layers, and continuity-driven details.

Sharing behind-the-scenes details on Wednesday, she posted a series of photos of the actor on Instagram, along with a detailed note describing the meticulous process that went into shaping his look.
In her caption, she wrote, “Designing the great #AkshayKhanna’s look for Dhurandhar was all about capturing the subtle intensity that he brings to every frame. We built his presence around clean structures, controlled details and tones that highlight his strong features without overpowering the character. Seeing the look come to life through his performance made the entire process incredibly rewarding.”

With an ensemble cast including Madhavan and Arjun Rampal, Preetisheel explained that it was important to achieve uniformity and individuality simultaneously. That said, the visual world of the film requires each character to feel rooted in the same gritty universe while maintaining distinct identities.
“I also gave a lot of thought to the secondary and tertiary characters because they each had their own quirks and unique characteristics,” he said in a statement.
Elaborating on the cosmetic realism he aimed to achieve, he said, “It was important for me to show her rawness through makeup.
Adding detailed layers and textures helped bring out who they really were, making even the briefest appearances feel real and lifelike. Hair became a major storytelling device to show the time, pressure, and emotional changes that evolved throughout the film. Even small elements like scars, tanning, sweat, and dust were added on purpose and carefully matched for continuity. And the blood work and prosthetics took things to another level; Some of it is really stomach-churning.”
