Melinda Gates has responded to Bill Gates’ recent comments about his divorce, offering an abbreviation yet sharp reaction in an interview.
Earlier this year, Microsoft’s co-founder described her divorce from Melinda after 27 years of marriage, as she is “the most regrets”. During an interview for the 2025 women’s impact issue of Elle published on Monday, Melinda was asked about her comments.
“You are clearly more googly than me,” he told the publication, allegedly turned his eyes on this question. “Look, divorce is painful, and it’s nothing I want on any family.”
According to The Independent, Bill Gates had opened about partition in an interview with Times, where he called divorce “unhappy” for both of them. “My divorce was at the top of the list in terms of my biggest mistakes,” he said. “There are other people, but there is no problem.”
However, Bill insisted that he and Melinda have maintained a cordial relationship. “We look at each other,” they said that they continue to participate in family programs together, especially with their three adult children Jennifer, 28, Rory, 25, and Fobe, 22.
While Bill did not explain the reasons behind the partition, he admitted in 2021 that he had a relationship with an employee during his marriage. The couple announced their separation on May 3, 2021, confirming their commitment to their shared philanthropic mission and announced their separation. ,
According to a report in The Independent, Melinda reflected her relationship in an interview with Time Magazine in June 2024, which was privately speaking about navigating partitions. She revealed that she had separated from the bill before deciding on divorce, which allowed her to focus on her children and responsibilities at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. “You know, I first separated before taking full decisions about divorce,” he said. Melinda said, “And to be able to do so that I am still trying to take care of the children, while still taking some decisions how you are going to separate your life.”
