Malayalam film Bha Bha Bha has made a great debut at the box office. Released on December 18, the Dilip starrer spoof action comedy grossed over Rs. Earning 7.25 crores on the first day. Mohanlal’s extended cameo has helped the film in a big way. With such an impressive start, Bhaa Bhaa has built a strong base to take its box office journey forward.
Bha Bha Bha remained at par with Odeon and emerged as the 5th biggest opener of all time at the Mollywood box office. The film was behind only KGF Chapter 2, Coolie, LEO and L2: Empuraan. Interestingly, Bha Bha Bha has become the third Malayalam film to take an opening of Rs. More than 7 crores so far in Kerala. The first film to achieve this feat was Odiyan in 2018. Another interesting fact is that Lalettan is the same in all three Malayalam films.
Bha Bha Bha also recorded solid pre-sales on its second day, which means the film is set for another strong business day at the box office. For the record, it raised around Rs. Earned Rs. Earned Rs 1.50 crore from the second day’s pre-sale alone, selling around 100K tickets in its home region. The film should aim for a great opening weekend at the box office.
Since the film has received positive response so far, it is expected that the film will continue to release on weekdays as well. Bha Bha Bha will face Mohanlal’s Vrishabh and Nivin Pauly’s Sarvam Maya during the Christmas period. However, films with positive response often find audiences even after new release. It will be interesting to see how this Dileep starrer performs during the Christmas-New Year holidays. If it holds strong, the film will have a great chance to emerge not only as Dileep’s biggest grosser but also one of the highest grossing films of Malayalam cinema at the box office.
