Bengali filmmaker Anik Dutta’s alleged suicide note has a message for his daughter
Police are investigating a handwritten note addressed to the daughter of Anik Dutta after his death in Kolkata. The purported note contained a message for the filmmaker’s daughter.

National Award-winning Bengali filmmaker Anik Dutta, who reportedly died by suicide on Wednesday, has reportedly left a handwritten note addressed to his daughter Oshi. News agency PTI The report quoting the police said that the note said that no one was responsible for his death. Investigators are now verifying the handwriting and probing all aspects related to the filmmaker’s death.
Police sources said the note was found inside a white envelope allegedly containing a magazine titled Cinematography Art. The document was reportedly recovered from the terrace of Dutta’s ex-wife’s residence in Kolkata, although authorities have yet to issue a final statement on its authenticity.

The note has been sent for forensic examination
Police have reportedly sent the handwritten note for forensic examination to find out whether the handwriting matches that of the filmmaker. Investigators are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the death and the note is considered an important part of that process.
The filmmaker reportedly died on May 27 after falling from the terrace of his south Kolkata residence. He suffered serious injuries in the fall and was taken to a private hospital near Dhakuria, where doctors later declared him dead.
Anik Dutta was 66 years old. He is survived by his wife and daughter. his sudden death shocked the Bengali cinema audience, especially because he was still actively working on films at that time.
Concerns about their latest release
Reports say that Dutta had recently expressed fears that his latest release could turn out to be his last film. At the time of his death, he was reportedly working Aparajito 2. His last directorial project was Joto Kando Kolkatatei, starring Abir Chatterjee, Qazi Nawajaba Ahmed and Dulal Lahiri. This film was released in September last year.
Anik Dutta became one of the most recognized names in Bengali cinema after directing past future in 2012.
