Bazuka, starring Malayalam superstar Mammooty, directed by Dinu Dennis and almost ended his dramatic run. The game thriller started well, but failed to impress the audience with its concept and execution, thus a poor dramatic run became a disappointing case at the box office.
Bazuka set to wrap in Kerala at just Rs 14 crore
Co-made by Yoodlee films, Bazooka hit theaters on 10 April, which coincides with Vishu 2025 Festival. The film was released in the three-way clash landscape with Alappuzha Gymkhana and Maranamas. It also faced the Tamil Movie Good Bad Bad Ugly and Holdover L2 Empuraan at the box office. Interestingly, Bazuka opened with a Banger inauguration of Rs 3.40 crore – the largest opening between all Vishu release. However, the film could not maintain momentum and traction failed to collect post-opening weekends.
Mammooty starrer crossed a mark of Rs 10 crore in its 5th day, and since then it could have added only Rs 3.50 crore to carry the total cum to the Kerala box office up to Rs 13.50 crore. Its box office trends were so bad that a relatively short film, Maranamas, began to perform better, and even showed the ability to cross its total cum.
Bazuka is breathing some of the last breaths in Kerala as Mohanlal’s Thaudram has caught most of the screen. The game thriller is expected to wrap his dramatic run at the Kerala box office under a mark of Rs 14 crore.
