Bangladesh’s interim government advisor Muhammad Yunus has tried to jump New Delhi by issuing a threat to the northeastern states of India, appealing to “expand” in the region. Mr. Yunas, who was on a four -day visit to Beijing last week, asked Beijing to “expand”, saying that “seven sisters have been landlock to the states” by Bangladesh “in the west.

China’s plans in Bangladesh
Mr. Yunas, who had a detailed discussion with China’s Xi Jinping during his visit, thanked Beijing for agreeing his appeal to China for increasing maritime cooperation with Dhaka. The two countries signed an agreement for Chinese companies to “participate in modernization and expansion of Mongla port in Bangladesh”. Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry said that both sides also agreed to cooperate to develop and expand the Chinese economic and industrial sector in the chatogram.
According to a report by Bangladesh’s state news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangsta, China has agreed to spend $ 400 million to modernize and expand the Mongla Port, and China has allocated a #350 million to expand the economic and industrial sector. The additional $ 150 million has been reserved to provide technical assistance.
