For millions of fans, Shah Rukh Khan’s house, vow, is more than just one house; It is a symbol of dreams that come true. In the last two decades, his Grand Haveli has become one of the biggest attractions in the city in Bandra Bandstand in Mumbai, in which visitors come from the entire country. But many people do not know that there was a time when Mannat was just a distant dream for a young Shah Rukh Khan.
Director Aziz Mirza recently recalled how Shah Rukh’s journey with Mannat began. Back in 1997, during the shooting of the song Chand Tare from the film Yes Boss, Shah Rukh one day filmed the scenes outside his property. During that time, the Ghar Bai Khorashed Bhanu belonged to Sanjan Trust.
Aziz Mirza shared in an interview with radio intoxication, “Shah Rukh was living in my home, angel, which was very close to Mannat. He and Gauri were young and full of dreams. He used to walk often, and I am sure during one of those hinges, he promised that he would buy that house.
Mirza further remembered that while he was shooting near Cafe Seaside, Shah Rukh pointed to Mannat and said enthusiastically, “Aziz, I bought that house.” This was not an easy process, however. Shah Rukh faced several challenges, including legal formalities with the municipality and issues with neighboring assets. But he managed to remove all obstacles and make dreams a reality.
Interestingly, after purchasing the house, Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan initially named Jannat (which means “heaven”). Later, in 2005, he changed the name to a vow – a word that beauty reflects the journey of a heartfelt desire to come true.
Today, the price of Mannat is more than Rs 200 crore. Recently, the Khan family went out of its prestigious house to temporarily allow major renewal. They have moved to a luxury apartment complex in Bandra, where he has given two duplex apartments of producer Vashu Bhagnani. The fare for the apartment is allegedly Rs 24 lakh per month, which is up to Rs 2.9 crore per year in four floors.
