Singer Asha Bhosle’s death on April 12, 2026 sparked mourning across India. Meanwhile, actor Athiya Shetty became the center of criticism online after a social media error.

After the demise of Asha Bhosle, Shetty shared a condolence message on Instagram. However, they mistakenly used the photo of Lata Mangeshkar, who died on February 6, 2022. The mistake was quickly recognized by social media users, who highlighted the incorrect image. Soon after noticing the mistake, Athiya deleted the post and shared Bhosale’s picture.

Despite the deleted post, the screenshots were widely circulated on social platforms, sparking a wave of negative reactions on the actor. No further comments were made by Shetty regarding the mix-up or the response it received. Many X users condemned the mistake with reactions ranging from disbelief to harsh criticism.

One user wrote, “Athiya Shetty is a brainless beauty. She posted a story with a picture of late Lata Mangeshkar instead of late Asha Bhosle. Nepo kids just want to stay relevant somehow without any hard work or struggle and that’s why their movies flop and they make such mistakes.”

Another user commented, “Athiya Shetty has gone mad, she uploaded Lata Mangeshkar’s picture instead of Asha Bhosle.”

An ex’s response also read, “Athiya Shetty wants to be such a beautiful girl but there is always something wrong.”

While Athiya Shetty has yet to issue a formal clarification about the earlier mix-up, she has since shared a new Instagram story dedicated to Asha Bhosle.

92-year-old Bhosale died in Mumbai on Sunday, April 12. Bhosale was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday evening. His death was also confirmed by Dr. Pratit Samdani of Breach Candy Hospital.

After the demise of the great singer, many Indian film personalities paid tribute to her on social media.
