‘Assi’ directed by Anubhav Sinha declined on the third day (Sunday) and collected Rs. Tally 1.50 crores. This brings ASI’s total revenue to Rs. Earned ₹4.10 crore at the Indian box office in its opening weekend.
The film needs to show strong trends on weekdays and then again in the second weekend to have a chance at the box office. Word-of-mouth so far is positive, however, the film is not getting the kind of audience support it needs. This could be due to lack of awareness among the audience regarding its release and then poor marketing strategy.
Starring Taapsee Pannu, Kani Kusruti, Revathi, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, the courtroom drama is doing well till the release of Dhurandhar and Toxic (March 19), which means if it manages to grow well and stay in theaters for a long time, it might have a chance.
The previous collaboration between Anubhav Sinha and Taapsee Pannu was Thappad, which debuted with Rs. Collected Rs 2.75 crore and Rs. Earned Rs 13.50 crore in its opening weekend. Thappad eventually recovered its production costs and grossed approximately Rs. Finished his dramatic performance in. Earning of Rs. 30 crores, which would be considered a good result for such a film in today’s scenario.
Eighties are nowhere closer than slapstick. This is because post-Covid, with the OTT boom, the theatrical base has taken off, and non-event films have seen a rapid increase in their commercial contracts.
