Arun Govil believes Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayan faces an uphill battle
Actor Arun Govil says his long association with Lord Ram shaped the reactions to Ranbir Kapoor’s first glimpse of Ramayan. He also explained why he was hesitant before joining the role of Lord Dasharatha in the film.

In a recent interview with Variety India, Govil said that the reaction to Ranbir’s first glimpse was shaped by the lasting impression of his own performance. He expressed that his version of Ram has become a standard for many viewers.

“No one wants to see another Ram,” he said. Govil stopped judging Ranbir Kapoor’s work before the release of the film. Govil said, “I won’t be able to tell you anything about him as Ram, but he is a good actor, there is no doubt about that. He is also a good human being.” He said that every actor presents a character differently and Ranbir must have played the character of Lord Ram in his own unique way.
