Listen to the story

In short
- Google has announced that the Chrome version 138 MACOS 11 will be final
- Apple has already stopped official support for Macos Big Sur
- If your Mac is eligible for a new Macos version, then it is the best step to update it now
If you are using a MacBook that is still running the Macos Big Sur, it may be the time to hit that update button in the end. Google has announced that the Chrome version 138 Macos 11, Aka Macos will be the final support for Big Sur. Next, you will not find any more chrome update on that operating system – no new features, and more importantly, no safety patch. This means that if you use an old OS, you are putting yourself at risk. To stay preserved and run the chrome smoothly, you have to update your Mac in minimal Macos 12 Montere or a new version.
This step is not out of blue. Apple has already discontinued official support for Macos Big Sur, so Google is following the suit. Without an update from Apple, Google cannot guarantee the safety of its browser on that system. So even though Chrome still works technically on Big SUR, after version 138, it is not going to be safe, and you will definitely not be able to find the latest features.
If your Mac is eligible for a new Macos version, then it is the best step to update it now. This not only ensures that chrome remains up -to -date, but also provides you a better system performance and security across the board. If your device is too old to upgrade beyond Big Sur, unfortunately, your time with chrome is probably decreasing.
Chrome usually updates itself in the background when you close and open the browser again, but if you have been in some time since the last start, you want to check manually. On a Mac, click on three dots in the top right corner, head to help Google Chrome, and you will see if there is any update waiting. You can also set Chrome to automatically update all users by enabling it from the Google Chrome section, but only if it is installed in the main application folder.
For those on Windows, Android or iOS, the update process is slightly different, but still simple. Windows users only need to close and relate chrome. Android users should go to the Play Store, while the iPhone user can update from the app store.
But here the major point Mac users are still clinging to the Big Sur – if you want to continue Chrome safely, now update your system. Once the chrome gets out 139 rolls, you may get exposed to unnecessary risks sticking with an old MacoS.
