Apple launches MacBook Air with M5 chip in India, price starts at Rs 1,19,900

Apple has announced the new MacBook Air with the M5 chipset. The device was launched as part of a series of announcements ahead of the company’s March 4 special experience event.

M5 chipset headlines MacBook Air launch. The processor of the device boasts of a fast 10-core CPU and next-generation GPU. Each core of the GPU has a neural accelerator, which is intended to handle complex AI tasks.

According to Apple, the new device is up to 4 times faster in AI tasks compared to the M4 version, while up to 9.5 times faster than the M1 MacBook Air.
Apart from the chipset, Apple has also upgraded the base storage. The M5 MacBook Air comes with 512GB in the base model, with options available up to 4TB. It is claimed that the new SSD is 2 times faster than the previous generation.
Apple’s N1 wireless chip has been used for connectivity in the new MacBook Air. It also has a 12-megapixel center stage camera for video calls.
The M5 MacBook Air will come in two screen sizes – 13.6-inch and 15.3-inch. Both displays are Liquid Retina panels with up to 500bit brightness.
However note that the design of the MacBook Air is unchanged this time around.

M5 MacBook Air price in India starts at Rs 1,19,900 and Rs 1,44,900 for the 13.6 and 15.3-inch screens respectively. For reference, the M4 MacBook Air was launched in India for Rs 99,900. Pre-orders for the MacBook Air will begin on March 4.
Just a day earlier, Apple had launched iPhone 17e and M4 iPad Air. Rumors also suggest that the Cupertino giant may soon release a lower-priced MacBook.
