Apple is allegedly planning to facilitate advertisements in its maps app. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has reported that Apple is searching for the idea of mashing Maps by showing advertisements. He said, this is not the first time that the tech veterans have come up with such a plan. Back in 2022, Gurman reported that Apple Apple may integrate advertisements in Apple Maps. However, the company did not proceed with the plan at that time. Now, the Apple can see the concept again, although no engineering work has begun yet, it shows that advertisements in Apple Maps may still be far away.
According to the latest report, Apple recently held an all-hand meeting with the Maps team, where the idea of mashing the app was discussed. However, no active development is currently underway, and Apple has not provided a time -line for time – or if – these features can be introduced.
Apple maps can show advertisement
Unlike traditional banner advertisements, Apple’s approach will focus on the search results paid. For example, a fast food chain can pay to be displayed at the top of the search results when users seek conditions such as “burgers” or “fries”, as explained by Gurman. This model is already widely used by competitive apps such as Google Maps. Apple currently appoints a uniform advertising strategy in the app store, where developers can pay to promote their app in search results. If the Apple proceeds with advertisements in the map, it can further promote the company’s service revenue, which aligns with ongoing efforts to expand its advertising business.
Additionally, in the last August, there was speculation that Apple was preparing to launch the Android version of Apple Maps. Although no official confirmation has been made, this step will create strategic understanding – expanding the access of the app for Android users will significantly increase its audience and in turn, promote potential advertising revenue.
With Apple now finding ways to mudl maps with Apple, it would not be surprising if the company decided to roll an Android version with its new advertising features. By doing this, Apple can compete more directly with services such as Google Maps, further strengthening the revenue of your advertising business and services.
Apple Maps change the name of the Gulf of Mexico
