Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap shares his review of the Malayalam film Mollywood Times Taking to social media on Monday, director Abhinav Sundar praised Nayak’s latest directorial and called it a film that perfectly reflects the aspirations of modern cinemagoers.

In his review, Kashyap wrote, “A post internet/social media cinephile filmmakers dream that this movie is. Lots of truth and lots of idealism. Coming from a filmmaker, the innovative handsome hero is getting sharper with time. It’s all like that, but a little bit of romanticism is just what we want. Loved the movie.”

Directed by Abhinav Sundar Nayak, Mollywood Times Follows Vineeth Madhavan, an aspiring filmmaker determined to become Malayalam cinema’s greatest horror director while navigating the harsh realities of the industry. The film has been described as a darkly comic drama that examines the passion, politics and compromises behind filmmaking.


The film stars Naslane in the lead role and also stars Roshan Shanavas, Althaf Saleem, Sangeet Pratap, Sharafuddin, Prashant Alexander, Gopika Ramesh and Vineeth Sreenivasan in lead roles. It is produced by Aashiq Usman, scripted by Ramu Sunil and music composed by Jake Bejoy.

Reviewing the film, India Today wrote, “Director Abhinav Sundar Nayak’s Mollywood Times The film follows Vineet Madhavan from his cinema-loving boyhood to the harsh realities of filmmaking. The film turns that journey into a reflection of passion, compromise and the dream of reaching Friday.”

Mollywood Times Abhinav Sundar Nayak’s second feature after the acclaimed Mukundan Unni Associates and becomes the second installment of their planned success trilogy. The film, directed by Neslen, was released last month and has received praise for its satire of the Malayalam film industry and the struggles of aspiring filmmakers.
