Speaking to the media at Kochi airport today, Kashyap criticized the film, saying it aimed to divide the audience instead of telling a meaningful story. He also mentioned a controversial scene which showed a woman being force-fed beef.

“The film Kerala Story is nonsense. The film is publicity and nonsense. Who serves beef like this? No one even serves khichdi like this. (Who serves beef like this? You wouldn’t even serve khichdi like this). The purpose of the film is to earn money. They just want to please everyone and divide people. The film producer is a greedy man. He just wants to make money,” he said.

The film claims that young Hindu women are lured into interfaith marriages, but are assaulted, stripped of their rights and forced to convert to Islam.
