Anupam Kher revisits the iconic DDLJ shooting location, makes special appeal to the government
Anupam Kher returned to Apta Railway Station and visited the iconic Dilwale Dhulaniya Le Jayenge shooting location after 32 years. He said the journey seemed frozen in time and urged it to be preserved as a cinematic heritage.

Sharing a video from the station, the actor said that shooting there again after more than three decades was a nostalgic experience. He said that it did not feel like so many years had passed and recalled that, at that time, no one thought that the scene with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol would become one of the most memorable moments of Indian cinema.

An emotional return to Apta Railway Station
Kher revisited the railway station where the memorable scene was shot and wrote, “After 32 years, it was an incredibly emotional and nostalgic experience to shoot again at the same location, the same location where we filmed the iconic Raj and Simran scene. The one who has heart will take the bride away.. “Honestly, it doesn’t feel like so many years have passed.”

He further added, “At that time, while shooting that scene, we never thought that that moment with Shah Rukh and Kajol would become one of the most memorable moments in Indian cinema. But maybe that’s the beauty of life, you often realize the greatness of a moment much later.”
Kher also reflected on how the significance of certain moments is often understood only years later. He said that standing at the station, once again it felt as if time had stopped for a while.
Call to preserve cinematic heritage
In his note, Kher said, “Even today, standing at the Apta railway station, it felt as if time had stopped for a while. It is my heartfelt wish that the Maharashtra government develops this place as a tourist destination. All over the world, such film locations become a part of people’s memories and emotions. We too must preserve this cinematic heritage with the same respect.”

Those with heart will take the bride, Popularly known as DDLJ, is a Hindi romantic musical film released in 1995. The film was written and directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by Yash Chopra. In this, Shahrukh Khan and Kajol played the roles of Raj and Simran.
The story follows two young NRIs who fall in love while traveling across Europe with friends. Their relationship hits obstacles when Simran’s father, bound by tradition and an old promise, insists on marrying her to the son of a close family friend. Raj then sets out to win over her family and fight for their love.
The film also featured Farida Jalal, Mandira Bedi and Himani Shivpuri in important roles.
