Angelina Jolie is fulfilling her mother’s dream. The actress revealed that she entered the industry for her mother and after her death it became difficult for her to act in films.
While speaking with W Magazine, the Mr. & Mrs. Smith star opened up about the late Marcheline Bertrand, who encouraged Mariah Starr to pursue acting as a child.
In an interview with the media portal, the actress revealed that her mother had also tried to get into the acting field and was auditioning for roles in both TV as well as theatre.
“I did it initially because…it was my mother’s dream,” he said. The Maleficent actress added, “But when my mother was 25, she was divorced with two children and decided to focus her life solely on motherhood.”
Jolie mentioned her mother’s divorce from Jon Voight and said that it affected Jon Voight’s dreams of making it to Hollywood. She further added, “She liked being a stay-at-home mom, but she really wanted me to become an actress, so I don’t remember that I chose to become an actress. I remember it making my mother happy.”

Meanwhile, when young Angelina Jolie got into acting, it was to help her mother pay utility bills.
Further in her conversation with the magazine, the actress revealed that she and her mother used to work as a team. “I always wanted to buy him a house and things like that—that’s how it started,” she said. The artist further added, “When my mother passed away, I thought it was hard for me to be an actress for a while. I realized how big it was for her.”
Bertrand and Jolie remained close to each other as long as they lived. The Original Sin actress’s mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 1999 and later breast cancer. He died in 2007.
