Google announces new Googlebook and Gemini Intelligence at Android Show I/O Edition 2026. Google also announced several manufacturer-focused features that are coming to Android 17.

With Android 17, Google is introducing a new feature called Screen Reaction for both creators and everyday users. As the name suggests, this feature lets you record the screen and your front camera feed simultaneously, making it easy to add live reactions to whatever’s happening on the screen.

Screen Reactions will first be available on Pixel devices later this summer, likely with the stable rollout of Android 17.

Google also announced several long-awaited improvements for Instagram on Android, developed in collaboration with Meta to enhance the overall user experience.

Instagram for Android will get support for Ultra HDR photo capture, better video stabilization, and Night Sight integration. These features will initially roll out to flagship Android devices, starting with the latest Pixel and Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Google says it has also enhanced Instagram’s capture-to-upload pipeline on Android 17 to ensure that photos and videos maintain the highest possible quality. According to the company, videos recorded on the latest Android flagship phones can now match or surpass videos captured on competing platforms.

The Instagram Edits app is also getting a number of new tools on Android, including smart enhancements for AI-powered image and video upscaling, as well as built-in sound separation.

Meanwhile, Instagram has been completely optimized for Android tablets to take better advantage of larger displays.

Google also confirmed that Adobe Premiere will be coming to Android in the near future.

Finally, Android 17 will introduce support for the APV video format on flagship smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, including devices like the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra. Support for additional devices will be rolled out later this year.
