Actor Amitabh Bachchan said some of the decisions at the 2026 FIFA World Cup “upset” him as he shared his views on the ongoing tournament in his latest blog. The actor wrote about the spirit of international football, the emotions of supporting different countries and how players put club rivalries aside to represent their countries on the world stage.

Opening his latest blog post, the 83-year-old actor wrote, “The idea of deadlines and time has gone haywire. Of course the reason is the World Cup 2026, the timing of watching is weird and makes our days even worse but we watch as we cheer, we regret and we watch with great sadness unfair decisions being made for one and not for the other and we cheer on the victories of countries we never thought of.” That they will make it to the World Cup challenge.”

He said, “Most of the famous and well-known football countries have to face defeat with great regret, it is surprising. But I am encouraged by the fact that we never thought that they gave a fight and achieved recognition. They keep saying ‘the best team can win’ but until the results come we never know who is the best team.”

He further said that many of the players representing their countries have previously played together in various competitions and championships, making them familiar with each other’s strengths and styles of play. While they remain friendly off the field, they become fierce competitors when representing their respective nations.

The actor compared the situation to the IPL, where players compete against each other for different franchises but come together as a unit when selected for the national team, and said it requires character.

Big B also reflected on how rapidly the world is changing for the better, saying that the younger generation is fortunate to witness and benefit from these developments.

According to him, older generations often wonder why such progress did not happen during their youth and admit that they may not live to see what will happen in the future. However, he said it is satisfying to know that the younger generation will get to experience it.

Concluding his note, he mentioned that where he has been staying after months, there was finally a little sunshine and he wanted to enjoy it as much as possible.

In the last two matches, Argentina continued to raise concerns, especially after their win against Egypt a few days earlier. Despite Switzerland playing for more than an hour with ten players, Lionel Scaloni’s side needed extra time for their third consecutive knockout match. Nevertheless, the European side repeatedly exposed Argentina’s defensive weaknesses before Julián Álvarez and Lautaro Martínez eventually secured qualification.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan is currently busy shooting for the sequel of his next film Kalki 2898 AD.
