Amid information overload, Kajol tells Gen Z: Make up your mind
Actress Kajol said Gen Z finds it difficult to decide what they want because of the constant information overload. He said that knowing what is right and what is wrong is not the same as making a personal choice.

Actress Kajol shared her views on Gen Z, saying that today’s youth are exposed to so much information that they may find it difficult to figure out what they really want. His comments came in a conversation with podcaster Lilly Singh, where the discussion focused on how young people handle the world around them.
Kajol said the difference, as she sees it, lies in the amount of information available to each generation. He said his own generation grew up with little input and often had to form opinions on their own. He suggested that this now means setting personal boundaries, morals, and boundaries without the constant flow of guidance available online and elsewhere.

“I think Gen Z has so much information today that they’re just swimming in it,” he said.
Information overload and decision making
Elaborating further, Kajol said that Gen Z is growing up in a world where information is instant and always within reach. Because of this, he said, young people are often less aware of what is seen as right and wrong. But he also said that knowing those things in principle is not the same as deciding what matters personally.

Summarizing his point, he said, “Of course they know about it, because everybody knows that, oh, this is right, this is wrong, and it should be like this, and that should be like that. But what do you want? Make up your own mind about it.”
Different methods of information processing
Lilly responded by saying that it appears Kajol is talking about critical thinking and decision-making abilities amid information overload. He then asked whether this constant noise affects both of Kajol’s children differently.
Kajol said that it happens. She said her daughter and son process things differently. The actress said that she sees a contradiction to some extent because one is a girl and the other is a boy.
He said, “I think boys live a bit simpler life and girls have more emphasis on them. It is visible in some places. It is true. They always have to live.”
