A Pennsylvania man has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend in a violent attack. According to court documents obtained by penliveBenjamin Gual, 49, allegedly stabbed his 50-year-old girlfriend to death because he was upset that she had cut his hair. The victim’s daughter reportedly told police that her mother’s new haircut was the reason behind the attack. She further revealed that Gual had previously threatened to stab her mother over a haircut, after which Carmen Martínez-Silva had to take temporary refuge in her daughter’s house overnight.
According to the probable cause affidavit, after spending the night at her daughter’s house, Martínez-Silva went to her brother’s residence and also asked a friend to inform Gual that their relationship was over. Meanwhile, Gual was searching for her and eventually tracked her to her brother’s house.
Upon arrival, Gual was initially told by Martínez-Silva’s brother that she was not there. However, when he returned after a few minutes, he attacked his brother with a knife. Martínez-Silva intervened in an attempt to protect his brother, but Gual turned his aggression toward him, and attacked him with a knife.
Police found Martínez-Silva dead at the scene, while his brother suffered multiple stab wounds. Two bystanders who attempted to intervene and stop the stabbing spree narrowly escaped being stabbed by Gual.
When police arrived at the scene, they found Benjamin Gual still present, sitting in his car with the knife used in the attack still in his hand. According to court documents, blood was visible on the knife. Gual has been charged with multiple counts, including murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. He is currently being held in the Lancaster County Jail without bail pending further legal proceedings.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by Martínez-Silva’s family to raise money for his funeral. ”The family is devastated by this loss, we never thought such a tragedy would happen to our beloved Carmen. We know this time is difficult for many of us, but we are asking you to donate anything you can that will help give the family the comfort they deserve,” part of the fundraiser. It is written in.
