A recent post on Facebook by Swati Singhal has raised concerns among online shoppers, especially those who rely on Amazon for their purchases. Singhal’s experience sheds light on potential scams involving duplicate orders, fake products and compromised customer data. In her post, Singhal details a disturbing incident that occurred when she placed two orders on Amazon on the same day. The first order was paid for via Cash on Delivery (COD), and the second was completed with an online payment. Surprisingly, both order slips were identical, indicating that something was amiss.

According to Singhal, when the first order arrived, he received fake speakers instead of the tablet he originally purchased. The second order, which arrived later, contained the correct product. However, he noticed that he was charged twice for the same item. This made him suspect that his order information had been leaked or compromised, leading to fraudulent activity.

“This message is for all those who depend on Amazon, it’s shocking to see how Amazon is cheating people, data is compromised at the backend to cheat people. Got two orders in one day, one I paid COD and the other online. Both order slips were same. In the first order we got fake speakers instead of the tablet we ordered, and the second one was the correct order. But we paid twice. Information about the orders got leaked from Amazon, so that fraud could be done.
Singal wrote on Facebook, “This is aimed at spreading awareness, be cautious when you purchase high value product from such untrusted online shopping portals!”

Singhal’s post highlights a worrying issue: the possibility that customer data may be at risk when shopping on Amazon, a platform that many consider highly trusted. He believes that information related to his order was accessed by someone with malicious intent, leading to counterfeit products and duplicate charges being sent.

The incident serves as a warning to consumers to be cautious, especially when they buy high-value items online. Singhal urges others to be vigilant and double-check their orders so they don’t fall victim to a similar scam. She also stresses the importance of spreading awareness about such incidents to help others protect themselves from potential fraud.

While Amazon is known for its strong security measures, this case highlights the need for customers to take extra precautions when shopping online. Ensuring that orders are accurate and payments are secure can help mitigate the risks associated with online transactions.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Amazon will respond to these allegations. For now, shoppers are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
