Amazon confirms 3nm chipset, new bio sensor for Galaxy Watch 7

Must read

Amazon is really having trouble keeping Samsung’s watches a secret – earlier this month it leaked the Galaxy Watch FE, now it’s accidentally unveiled the Galaxy Watch 7. The photos on this Amazon Canada page show some Chromebooks, but the description is all about a new watch (you can tell by the number of times “AI” is mentioned on the page).

This is reportedly the Samsung Galaxy Watch7, a 40mm Bluetooth variant in cream colour. The Amazon page confirms perhaps the most exciting aspect of the new series – the first 3nm chipset. The tentatively named Exynos W1000 should represent a major upgrade in performance and efficiency compared to the 5nm W930 used in the current Watch6 series. We’re pretty sure the listed RAM and storage capacities are wrong (or leftovers from Chromebooks). From what we’ve heard, the Watch7 will double its storage to 32GB.

The other exciting upgrade is the second-generation Bioactive sensor, which according to the brief description will “provide more accurate measurements with your heart rate during exercise and sleep”. However, this should be only a small part of it, for example the Watch6 Bioactive sensor measures body composition, basal metabolic rate and other similar things. It may also have new features (perhaps blood sugar measurement).

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 will become an AI-powered companion with features like AI-powered sleep, AI powered exercise, and AI powered communication.

Galaxy AI will also be included to help you respond to incoming text messages. The on-screen keyboard is a little difficult to use (as it’s quite small), so you can type something quickly and the AI can correct the words in your reply.

The Amazon Canada page claims that the Galaxy Watch7 will be released on July 10, as do other retailers. The listed price is CAD 358 (for the base model), which is lower than the price of the Watch6 40mm at launch last year (it was CAD 410, here’s the old press release). Of course, the price could be a mistake, so don’t draw any conclusions about a price drop just yet.
