Veteran singer Alka Yagnik’s health has become a matter of concern among fans after a video of her being helped onto a wheelchair surfaced online, soon after she had talked about her health struggles while accepting the Padma Bhushan. The clip garnered many reactions on social media, with fans offering prayers and wishing for his speedy recovery.

The 60-year-old singer, who has been suffering from sensorineural hearing loss since 2024, received the Padma Bhushan from President Draupadi Murmu in New Delhi on June 23. A day later, on June 24, Yagnik addressed her health challenges in an Instagram post, saying that she had largely stayed away from the limelight and avoided public appearances over the past two years, but she decided to attend the event as she is slowly “finding her way back”.

Yagnik talks about staying away from the limelight

Yagnik is one of the most famous playback singers of Indian cinema. She has been one of the defining voices of Hindi film music in the 1990s and 2000s, having recorded many widely known songs during her career.
