Actor Akshay Kumar is all set to return to his action avatar with a new film directed by Milan Luthria. There are reports that the action star has joined hands with his ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara!’ director while the film is being produced by Siddharth Anand’s Marflix.

A report published in Pinkvilla A source close to the production said that Akshay is excited about this big action entertainer, which is made on a huge budget just like Sidharth’s previous action films ‘Pathan’ and ‘Fighter’. While the title is yet to be finalised and the rest of the cast is on, Akshay is excited to reprise his OG action hero image on screen.

The report states, “Sidharth has brought together the director-writer duo of Milan Luthria and Rajat Arora to develop an action film which will be based in the genre of a vigilante film. When the script was finalised, the trio unanimously felt that Akshay Kumar was the best fit for the film and after hearing the script, Akshay too felt that it was the right film for him to be associated with (such a film).”

The source added that the film will re-establish Akshay as the OG ‘Khiladi’ of Bollywood and everyone is happy with the collaboration. The report further added, “Akshay loves the action space and is always up for challenges. Directed by Milan Luthria, the film will see him in a never seen before avatar that does justice to the legacy he has created in action. Sid and Mamta are excited about this new collaboration with the Khiladi.”

This is good news for Akshay’s fans who saw his last action film ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ bomb at the box office. The actor currently has light-hearted comedy films in his kitty including ‘Housefull 5’, ‘Jolly LLB 3’ and ‘Welcome to the Jungle’. This new action film seems to be a must-have addition to his upcoming list of films.

Meanwhile, Siddharth and his wife Mamta Anand are working on several credible projects under their home banner. This includes the Sujoy Ghosh-directed ‘King’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, their daughter Suhana Khan and Abhishek Bachchan. There’s ‘Jewel Thief’ starring Jaideep Ahlawat and Saif Ali Khan, followed by Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Krrish 4’. The duo is also working on an international documentary feature based on the life and work of Sri Sri Ravishankar. An untitled female-led action film is also in the pipeline, as well as a big two-hero action film, which Siddharth himself might direct.
