The actor’s comments come as Welcome to the Jungle marks his return to the series, as he was not involved in the sequel, Welcome Back, a film in which many viewers felt his presence was missed. However, this time Akshay is back while Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar are missing from the new film.

Akshay said in an interview to Times of India, “Welcome is a complete family. This is Nana, Mr. Anil, me and all the people. It’s like family. If welcome 4 ever made, you’ll find them all (in it).”

While the characters played by Nana and Anil are not a part of Welcome to the Jungle, the film introduces their siblings, Yeda Anna and Romeo, played by actors Suniel Shetty and Arshad Warsi respectively. The story revolves around a group of gangsters, criminals and quirky characters whose paths cross through the border-zone jungle, where what starts as a film-shoot like operation turns into a series of absurd misadventures involving crime, confusion and action-packed situations.

India Today, in its review of the film, wrote, “By the time the climax arrives – and it seems there is more than one – you have stopped wondering who will defeat the terrorists. You have stopped caring about whether Rajiv will get the girl or not. Now you don’t even remember who owes money to whom. Somewhere in the middle of all this emptiness, the film loses your interest. You are no longer waiting for the story to end, but rather the film feels “Waiting for it to happen.”
