Actor Nagarjuna has spoken about the “terrible time” for the family after his son, actor Akhil Akkineni, met with a horrific accident about one and a half to two years ago. Speaking at the success meeting of Akhil’s latest film Lenin, Nagarjuna said that a piece of glass had almost cut Akhil’s nerve, leaving Akhil with no sensation in his hand. He said the family did not know whether the feeling would return and decided not to talk about it publicly at the time.

The actor got emotional while talking about Akhil’s journey on the programme. “Something changed in him,” he said, linking the period after the accident to a change in Akhil’s outlook, adding that he is now calmer and thinking more clearly.

Recalling the incident, Nagarjuna said, “About one and a half to two years ago, a glass in a freak accident almost cut his nerve. He lost the sensation of his hand completely. We didn’t know if he would regain it, it was a terrible time for all of us. Especially for me and Amala, we didn’t feel we could share it publicly. But somehow, with physiotherapy and all that, it took him six months to get back.”

He then talked about the changes he saw in Akhil after that phase. Nagarjuna said, “And I think then something changed, something changed in him. He calmed down and started thinking in the same way. These are all personal things that I am telling you because now the time has come to tell you.”

He further added, “I think from that calmness, he found a partner (in Zainab Rawadji), his good times started. He shot this film with this thought process. I am very happy that he is at that level now. Without any impulsive decisions, if he keeps thinking calmly. Akhil, your future is great.”

Nagarjuna also said that he had prayed for the success of Akhil before its release. lenin. Despite mixed reviews, the film has grossed a total of Rs 29.45 crore in its opening weekend. The film collected Rs 7.80 crore overseas in three days, taking the film’s worldwide gross collection to Rs 37.07 crore.
