The film Mankatha starring Ajith Kumar was released in theaters on August 31, 2011 and was a huge hit at the box office. Now, after more than a decade, the film may finally be getting a sequel.

According to a report from Valai Pechu, Ajit KumarAnd director Venkat Prabhu is getting ready to collaborate once again. The upcoming project is called Mankatha 2, which marks their reunion after the first installment.

Although more details have not been revealed yet, reports suggest that the film may be helmed by producer Kannan Ravi. Speculations also suggest that Venkat Prabhu’s project with Sivakarthikeyan may not be completed any time soon, which is why the director is keen to work on the sequel. However, this is unconfirmed, as no official announcement has been made.

Mankatha It is the story of Vinayak Mahadevan, a cunning and suspended Mumbai police officer, who joins a gang planning to steal Rs 500 crore of illegal IPL betting. However, his real agenda is to deceive everyone and grab the money for himself.

As Vinayak betrays and manipulates his plan, his plan begins to spiral out of control, leading to a high-stakes cat-and-mouse game with a relentless police officer and local goons. The film unfolds with several twists and turns, revealing that no one is as they seem, with Vinayak eventually declaring himself the “kingmaker”.

Along with Ajith in the lead role, the film stars Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Raai Lakshmi, Anjali, Andrea Jeremiah, Vaibhav Reddy, Ashwin Kakumanu and Premji Amaren in lead roles.

Written and directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film has music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Ajith Kumar was last seen in the lead role Good Bad Ugly (GBU)Directed by Adhik Ravichandran. The film tells the story of a former gangster who tries to atone for his past crimes in order to give his son a better life, but things take a turn for the worse when his past comes back to haunt him.

Looking ahead, the actor is set to collaborate with Adhik Ravichandran once again on an upcoming action entertainer. Additionally, AK is also reportedly in talks for a project with director Shiva.
