Meta is doubled on the ambitions of its artificial intelligence, intensifying the race of recruitment, wooing the increasing number of rival OpenaiI researchers. In the last few weeks, Meta has picked several high-profile AI scientists in Openai to several high-profile AI scientists, including Lucas Bayer, Alexander Cholenikov and Ziaoahua Zhai, which are located in the Zurich Office of Openai. A prominent person in the research team of OpenAII, Trapit Bansal also recently joined the meta. But this is not. The information revealed that four additional researchers, Shengzia Jhao, Jiahui U, Shuchao B, and Hongu Rain also switched to the meta, which adds more fuels to speculate about aggressive recruitment strategies.
This horrific departure from Openai has attracted attention to the technical industry, at least due to a viral claim made by CEO Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAII, that the meta was signing a bonus of up to $ 100 million to attract top talent. While Altman suggested that none of OpenEE’s “Best Peepal” had accepted the proposal, employees are going to the meta in only one eyelid.
At an all-handed meeting held soon after Altman’s comment was made public, Meta’s Chief Technology Officer Andrew Bosworth addressed the employee questions. According to The Verge, Bosworth pushed the Altman back firmly, accusing him of dishonesty and exaggeration. “He is known to enhance the truth,” Bosworth said, while Meta could offer enough package for some roles, a blanket $ 100 million sign-on idea was “stunning misleading”.
Bosworth clarified that only the “very, very small number” of highly senior persons could get compensation package in that ballpark – and even then, it would not take the form of a straight signature bonus. “This is far more complex than a single-band check,” he said.
Connecting the reliability in the denial of Bosworth, the researchers at the center of the dispute -Beyer, Kolsnikov, and Jhai -Ax (East Twitter) to confirm that they joined the meta, but dismissed the figure of $ 100 million as “fake news”. His collective refusal outlined the magnificent nature of compensation revelations in the Silicon Valley’s high-day AI race.
The time of these fare is particularly notable. Meta recently unveiled its Lama 4 family of the AI model, which received a lukewarm reception compared to allegedly set expectations by CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The company’s AI strategy has faced criticism, especially about benchmark transparency and performance matrix. In this context, apart from Openai’s elite researchers, Meta’s AI may be a strategic move for reliability and future release.
Zuckerberg himself is taking an approach with one hand. Reports suggest that he has personally reached AI professionals with attractive offers and is trying to bring talents from the entire region. During the internal meeting, Bosworth indicated that more high-level recruitments from Openai were on the way, although they refused to reveal further details.
In a separate push to expand its AI footprint, The Wall Street Journal reported that Meta has invested $ 14 billion in a startup scale AI set by Alexandra Wang.
