The latest development is that the release date of the film has been updated on some ticketing platforms, although there has been no official announcement from the makers. On District, Jana Nayakan is listed for release on June 19, while on Book My Show, the release date has been updated to June.

Till now, KVN Productions has not issued any statement confirming the release date of the film. Producer Venkat K Narayana of KVN Productions addressed the media after being spotted at a temple on Friday evening, but said the team is still waiting for the censor certificate, as per reports Hindustan Times.
“This is not the place to talk,” he said. Jan Naygan. I have come to visit the temple. But as I said, we are waiting for the certificate to come. I’m sure they’re going to deliver it any time soon. We will release as soon as possible.”

We will announce it already once the censor certificate is in our hands. And we will release it worldwide in a grand manner.”

Reports suggest that the film was first screened for the CBFC scrutiny committee in December 2025. The committee reportedly suggested several cuts and indicated that the film could get a U/A certificate after those changes. The producers have reportedly accepted the recommendations and resubmitted the film.
However, the process was further delayed after the film was sent to a vetting committee following complaints about some scenes. It has been reported that the film’s release plans, international schedules and distribution deals have been affected due to the lengthy certification process. Vijay has since alleged a ‘conspiracy’ over the film’s delay and blamed the then ruling parties for it. He also alleged that news related to his personal life was deliberately leaked so close to the elections.
In April, several scenes from Jan Naygan were leaked online amid the long wait for the theatrical release. HD prints of the complete film were uploaded on piracy sites. The leak, which came just before Vijay’s entry into politics with the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, shook the Tamil film industry. Police have made 9 arrests in this case so far.
