Lisa Kudrow recently shared a touching memory involving her late Friends co-star Matthew Perry. The story revolves around the show’s iconic ‘Cookie Time’ jar, a sentimental gift given to her by Perry.
Lisa Kudrow recently opened up about a heartfelt gift she received from her late Friends co-star Matthew Perry. Speaking about the iconic “Cookie Time” jar, which became a memorable prop of the beloved sitcom, Kudrow shared the sentimental story behind it.
“Matthew gave that to me at the end of our last episode,” Kudrow revealed on The Drew Barrymore Show. She said the jar that Perry gifted her when the show ended in 2004 had a special note inside. “I recently found the note he had for me. I didn’t open it or look inside it,” he said.
Recalling a humorous moment on set, Kudrow explained how the cookie jar became important during an improvised scene. He said, “We were shooting a scene many years ago. My line was, ‘Oh, I’m late. I’d better get going,’ and by the time I realized I didn’t have a watch it was too late. As the words were coming out, I said, ‘Oh cool, there’s a clock,’ and I pointed to it (the cookie jar) and said, ‘Oh, look at the time.’ “I better move on.”
This moment made an impact on Perry, who played Chandler Bing on the show. Kudrow recalled his playful reaction, “Did you just point to the cookie jar and say, ‘Look at the time?'” They both laughed about the incident, and years later, Perry made sure to give props to Kudrow. It will become a memorable memento.
Reflecting on receiving the gift, Kudrow described her initial surprise. “I think the first thing I asked was, ‘That was great – did you get permission?’ I mean, my car was searched every night I went out,” she joked.
Lisa, looking emotionally emotional, said, “I recently found the note that he had for me. I didn’t open it or look inside it. But yes, he did. He had a note in there Was, and I forgot about it. Timing is everything.”
According to a December 2023 autopsy report, Matthew Perry died in October 2023 at the age of 54 from the “acute effects” of ketamine and other factors, which caused him to become unconscious and drown in his hot tub.
