Actor Sivakarthikeyan honored by Officers Training Academy for Amaran performance
Actor Sivakarthikeyan’s heartfelt portrayal of Major Mukund Varadarajan in Amaran has not only earned him critical praise but has now been officially recognized by the Officers Training Academy.
Tamil actor Sivakarthikeyan’s performance in Amaran continues to make waves. The actor, who recently played the role of Major Mukund Varadarajan in the biographical war film, was honored by the prestigious Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai on Wednesday, November 27, for his portrayal of the real-life hero. This recognition comes as Amaran continues to be a box office success, having grossed over Rs 320 crore globally.

Raj Kamal Films International, the production house behind Amaran, shared the update on social media, posting pictures from the event and captioned it, “Respecting the talent! Officers Training Academy proudly presents Sivakarthikeyan who plays Major Mukund Varadarajan in Amaran for his phenomenal performance.” A distinguished alumnus of OTA (sic).”
At the felicitation ceremony, Sivakarthikeyan expressed pride in playing the iconic role. He said, “It is an honor to portray the life of Major Mukund and I feel deeply connected to his story.” He added, “This recognition means a lot to me and it highlights the importance of telling stories about real-life heroes.”
OTA, which trains officers for Short Service Commission of the Indian Army, has a special connection to the story, as Major Mukund’s journey as an officer began from there. This made this recognition even more important. Sivakarthikeyan’s portrayal of Major Mukund has been widely praised for its authenticity, emotional depth and capturing the true spirit of the late officer.

Amaran, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy, is based on Shiva Aroor and Rahul Singh’s India’s Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes. The film follows Major Mukund’s wife, Indu Rebecca Varghese, played by Sai Pallavi, as she narrates the story of her husband’s sacrifice and bravery.
With over 4.5 million tickets sold, Amaran has become Sivakarthikeyan’s highest-grossing film and is now one of the top Tamil films of 2024. It not only celebrates the life of a true hero but also marks an important milestone in Sivakarthikeyan’s career.
