Veteran actor Manchu Mohan Babu has issued a statement expressing regret following an altercation at his Hyderabad residence on December 10, in which a journalist was injured due to a fracture. The incident came to light during a family dispute when Mohan Babu’s son Manchu Manoj attempted to enter the premises.

In his statement on December 12, 2024, Mohan Babu described the episode as “extremely regrettable” and apologized to the injured journalist and his organization. He attributed the incidents to the chaos caused by a group of persons allegedly forcing their way into his house. “I am deeply saddened that what started as a private family dispute has turned into a major situation causing distress,” the actor wrote.

“Amidst this chaos, the media unknowingly got embroiled in the situation. As I tried to handle the situation, one of your journalists, Mr. Ranjit, unfortunately got hurt. This was an extremely regrettable outcome, and I regret the pain.” Deeply regretted and Mohan Babu said, “He, his family and the media community were inconvenienced.”

The actor extended his warm wishes for the journalist’s recovery and apologized for the inconvenience. He said, “To Mr. Ranjit and the entire journalist community, I sincerely apologize for the pain and distress my actions have caused and I extend my warmest wishes for a speedy recovery.”

Mohan Babu also attributed his late response to health problems. On December 10, he was admitted to Continental Hospital after suffering from high blood pressure, severe neck pain and leg pain. “He had high blood pressure and complained of intense pain,” a hospital bulletin said.

The Manchu family has been in the news recently due to internal disputes. Mohan Babu accused his son Manchu Manuj of illegally taking over his property, while Manoj alleged that his father consistently showed favoritism towards his brother Vishnu Manchu.
