British-American actor Matthew Marsden claimed he received death threats after speaking out against the H-1B visa scam by Indians in Texas. He also said he was not targeting any skin color or nationality and would be equally angry if Britons were committing H-1B visa fraud. This all stems from his X post on April 4 where he complained about Home Depot being crowded with Indian kids and no one speaking English. The viral post reads, “I just went to Home Depot and there was a kids morning there. Every single family there was Indian and no one spoke English. This H1B visa fraud is destroying Texas and something needs to be done about it.”The post was criticized and described as an example of bigotry as social media users pointed out that Indian children speaking a different language is not an H-1B visa scam because those children certainly know English as well and are multilingual. “Every Indian kid learns at least 2 languages and speaks Indian in the presence of family. I can guarantee they speak English too. Why did you leave it out? Because bigotry gets clicks I guess,” one wrote.“The beautiful self-goal of this brand of bigotry is that most of them are Indian multilinguals and can speak English in addition to several Indic languages. Whereas the monolingual Manga Madayan probably only speaks American English. So… really, who is more educated?” Activist Indu Viswanathan wrote. “Being offended by brown kids who don’t speak English at Home Depot is bigotry, not evidence of H-1B fraud,” a third user wrote. Some users defended her observations while many called them ‘engagement bait’. British-American Matthew Marsden, famous for Coronation Street and Black Hawk Down, has become vocal on social media. On his YouTube channel, he posted several videos about how immigration is destroying the UK. He moved to America in 2003 and has been working in Hollywood since then. He has been living in Texas for the last five years. He is a naturalized US citizen and holds dual UK-US citizenship.
